I use gasoline with no ethanol in the boat and power tools which helps with fuel system problems. My carbs are plastic. Yours lasted a long time. Here is how to find the fuel: http://pure-gas.org/
It is expensive but the shelf life is fantastic. I have left it a year untreated, but I don't recommend it. jim
This is starting to look like the old days with the two of you on board. Tell us about the new plane Mark. Are you going to fly with LL?
Hey Jim-- It has been a long summer of working to get the T-34 up to speed. To start, we did a tear down inspection on the engine (an IO-520BB). Good fortune there, as it is a mid time engine with a low time top end and everything looked great. Had the valves and seats re-ground but nothing major was required. The airplane had sat since 2006 so we have had our share of gremlins to work out but overall it is an excellent airframe and was well maintained so we are just about there. Picture below was taken during a run up last weekend (Yes - I had to hit the smoke on the ramp). I am a member of the T-34 Association and I know some of the guys with LL - obviously - as they used to be based at our field (LL10 - after which the team is named). But--- I don't know about joining the flight team.... I don't think I'm quite up to those standards as a pilot.... We've had a lot of fun w/ the Hydrodyne this summer. I can't quite get the kids up to the lake as much due to their schedules but we did our share of waterskiing in this summer. I also hit the last day of Nationals in Janesville - and saw some of the Hydrodyners gang. I got to meet RiverRat in person, which was cool. Saw Greg Weyers, Pete from Dyna-Ski, Skinny from MustSkis (who is an A&P) and a few others. So it was nice. I didn't get to see my twin rig on the water (The Aquanuts own it now) because it was there on Saturday and I wasn't there until Sunday. It has Mercs on it now. One thing I noticed this year is how loud my Optimax is compared to the two Etecs that ran behind me all summer in 2013. Should have the T-34 in the air soon. Still trying to find a CFI with M&M time to check me out. Never thought I'd have trouble finding a Mentor driver in Naperville but that seems to be the case right now. Nice to see Daniel's boat in the water. That is for sure. And great to hear from you, JIm. My brother mentioned that he had talked to you recently. I know Pam lives somewhere south of me but if you are up this far north be sure to let me know.
We already had our summer visit. We did not get out to the suburbs this year. Daniel's boat and family looks great. You airplane looks great. I sent you a PM. It is great to have both of you back. jim
Here is a picture of my boat taken earlier this summer. These young ladies were guests of Mark Jr.'s.
