Isn't the shoe box joint glassed over on the inside? That is the main issue with removing the deck. That joint has to be cut from the inside to release the deck from the hull. The deck is larger than the hull in that area. I think the wood is there to take up that space and give the rivets something to clamp on. I have never done it, but you could probably remove the rivets, replace the wood and re-install the rivets without removing the deck. The internal glass joint would hold it in position. I am not advocating that, but I think it could be done. jim
That is the ideal way to do it if you are restoring the boat to original, but not the only way. Some members believe that this is the only acceptable way. I would not do that because I would modify the splashwell at the same time which requires cutting the aft deck anyway. I wrote an article about this in this section of the forum. You can cut the aft portion of the deck and lift it off. The concern is that the seam might not be properly done leaving an imperfection. jim
So what would the Pylon be worth? Thinking of just parting that out and getting rid of boat. Probably keep the trailer and convert it to a light hauling trailer.
That is true. I have a brother in WI who could pay you and hold it until the next time I go up or he comes down.
Could you post a pic of the center pole mount to the floor? If I can make it work I am definitely interested.
