[QUOTE="tj309,Here are 3 pics of mine...[/QUOTE] Hydrostream Venom. Nice! This is your boat's grandfather....1975 Hydrostream Viper. I rebuilt this boat in 2006-7. Never really learned to drive it.
I had a V-King before the Venom - a real handful to drive. The Venom is much more stable and less likely to chine walk.
I still have to unlock the secret to push the Venom over 75. I think my hydraulic sterring needs to be bled.
When the little Viper hit 60 it could get ugly quick. Chine and porpoise at the same time. If I could launch it and land it on the pad I could get it to over 70. 73 was my fastest GPS before it started rockin. It had dual ride guide cable steering that was a little sticky so quick corrections were tough. A little left would sometimes stop the chining but usually not before it scared my foot out of it. A lot of brown stain trying to learn that boat....
I sold the Viper a few years ago. It is up for sale again...with a 2.5 liter hot rod Merc. I asked him what he wanted for just the hull, thought if I got it back I would search for a Merc J block or just a big inline 6 but he wants more for the hull than I sold it for rigged.
Off hand I would say about 10". What makes it different is there is a 1/2" lip that angles down along both sides of the pad which kinda makes it like a tunneled slalom ski.
