Anyone know where I can get a replacement for the Morse control on my '79 I/O? Any tips on how to remove the one I have? (Before I tear the seat out so I can laydown and try to view the backside of the control)

Your throttle may be repairable. What are the symptoms?

The Teleflex/Morse MV-3 is the replacement and it is different. A google search will turn up a bunch of sources.

The MV-2's show up on e-bay occasionally.

It has been a long time since I had one off, but I think there are a couple of nuts on the backside.

I did not have to remove my seat, but I had the original seats, not buckets.

If you do remove the seat, make sure to seal the screw holes with sealer when you re-install.

It grinds going into forward unless the neutral button is pushed in and held when you shift into forward. We have adjusted the cable lengths at the engine but our resident pro on I/O's said the controls are worn out so there is too much movement for a smooth shift. Is the MV2 a match for the one I have?

yes, but I would take it apart, is sounds like something is broken. It might be repairable.
