Attached are pictures of our newly acquired 1982 Hydrodyne. We purchased it from Dyne Bob. Dyne Bob is a wealth of information and his 1998 Hydrodyne takes your breath away - it is a stunning example of an 18 footer. I might have gawked longer but I have a brother with a perfectly restored 1973 18-footer - MBano. Now you understand how we got into Hydrodynes. My boys, 11 and 18 years old, are both avid waterskiers. They have skied behind many different boats, but prefer Uncle Mark's, over all others. My 18 year old is on the Kansas State University waterski team.

The boat came from Michigan - a one owner boat. It has sat the last 15 years unused in a garage. I suspect we will find lots of things to fix. The hull is in excellent shape and has the tracking fin on the keel. The topside has new carpet and excellent upholstery. It has a rare hydrodyne rear seat - not pictured - as we are working on that indoors. It is also sitting on an original Hydrodyne trailer. We cleaned up the motor case and lube joints on the motor. We are also pulling off the side stickers - we plan to install simple black "Hydrodyne" stickers as you find on the 18-footers. We are going to leave the stickers on the hood until the boat needs to be repainted. Our quick assessment suggests that the gauges don't work and there is ample loose wiring to look into. We plan to move the aluminum 16-gallon gas tank from the rear to the front. It will provide more storage space and access to the bilge pump and drain plug. Right now it takes a 3-foot arm to reach either. There was a windshield at one time, only a faded mark and small holes remain, but I hate windshields and bow riding passengers. I guess that's because I am always pulling skiers.

We will continue to post pictures as changes occur on the boat. For those readers in the southern US - you might wonder what we do in Wisconsin when its 35 degrees - we work on our boats. Steve, Steven, and Victor Banovetz

    Awesome pics!

Remember.... NO METAL scrapers against the gel coat. Hair dryer and fingernails are what you use to remove decals. Mineral spirits or a small amount of acetone for the sticky goo.

Boat looks great. Cannot wait to see it.

I tried to buy a tandem Eagle trailer for my twin rig today... it was in Ohio and of course Bob found it for me... but it was sold when I called back to buy it. Search continues...

I see that you have more hair on your head than I do. How annoying...

I thought that was Steven. Vic looks so old. He looks exactly like his older brother in these pics.

We might need to change the angle of that steering wheel. Not sure it is ideal. What type of steering is on there? Is it a Teleflex R&P or what?

I need to get my hands on that boat. It is killing me. Decals on the foredeck look great. I would keep those too. Don't worry too much about the little imperfections. I know you'll slam it against the dock right away and then you won't even see the small stuff anymore. I've seen how you drive a boat. ;)

haha, uncle Mark. Yes we do plan to keep the stickers on the front, but the stickers on the side are getting taken off as seen in pics. It seems like getting the boat on the trailer is the hard part for my dad. If you want to get the boat in your hands let us know and we or you can drive down their to your house and we can work on it together. ;)

I'll go out on a limb here and suggest that you look into at least a 24 gallon tank. Especially if the old school carb 2 stroke is there to stay.

I have a 40 gallon bow tank from a twin rig if you are interested. The deck on that 82 is slightly different than the 85 and up boats, I assume you would still be able to slide this one up there.
