I Finally have put her in the water! Just trying to work out the bugs and make sure the hull is ok since the rebuild and before paint. Everything is a ok, with the exeption of the motor. (1962 Johnson 40 HP) It would not run unless i had the choke on and of course no top speed as of yet. Compression was 100 psi on both cylinders and it will idle ok so i guess it is time for the carb to be rebuilt. Or get a Merc. I am just so happy she is floating! :yahoo:
Pay particular attention to the idle transfer ports and the idle jet. The problem is usually in the idle circuit. I blow them out with carb cleaner and compressed air. You problem is very common after sitting with fuel in the float bowls. jim
my boat looks just like yours more or less its a 1966 volvo two carb did you keep the origonal motor and drive
Thank you Jim! You were correct on the carb issue I was having. Sorry it's been so long. I have been enjoying it after getting it all cleaned out and running Just put it in the water and had a full season last year. She is running and looking great!
