Any one have any experience with using a perfect pass system on an I/O hydrodyne? I'm about to make it happen.

No, but I'd love to hear and see how your experience goes.

    Hey Van:

I've driven and skiied behind several inboard boats set up with perfectpass (PP) in a course but never set one up myself. There are pickups -in the hull for magnets but PP may have evolved to GPS and the magnets are a secondary backup or cross-check.

I have a friend who is a Malibu rep who has installed several of PP systems and will bounce it off him the next time I see him. Might be in spring as he is a ski instructor in Montana in the snow season.

I am having my perfect pass 3 event edition installed by Rambo Marine in Birmingham, AL who is a Mastercraft dealer. Hoping to get it back this weekend.
Will let you know how it works on a I/O Hydrodyne.

Have had my 3 event perfect pass now for a whole ski season and I must say it's great. Now most anybody that can drive in a straight line can pull a skier.
Still looking for that next hidden 20 I/O to come out of storage. Kevin that other 20 I/O on the media page looks a lot like yours.

    Hey Vann,

I am curious to know how it tracks compared to an inboard.

    Hi Vann:

X 2 to Jim's comment, give a report on how the PP works.

Regarding the media page and 1989 HD 20 i/o in the brochure, I've always wondered if they used an earlier model HD i/o 20 (like the 1985 in the garage). There is a little offset in the blue gelcoat striping from the top deck to the hull on my boat and the boat in the brochure as well, but the spotters seat kinda looks like a bench? It gets to grainy when I zoom in so cant really tell if a bench or pedestal spotters seat. No bench holes in the floor of the one in the garage, just two sets of pedestals to which one set is sealed up.

I PM'ed Bryan about a couple brochures that I sent him a year or two ago and it looks like one can be accessed, but the 1969 Imperial doesn't work. Will send him another PM to see if he can fix the Imperial ad. The pre 1970 HD 18 i/o is printed on special textured paper and IMO is an original. If the owner boat in pictured in the brochure ever shows up here, the brochure will be theirs free of charge.

My main skiing partner are both 22 off 34 mph skiers. The side pull (tracking) and the speed are held well within tolerance. The pull is not as solid as an inboard but the boat weighs about a 1000 lbs. less with 40 to 80 less hp. Wish I could buy a new 20 I/O with a 2014 engine and instruments and the same hull. Had this boat since 86 and it is still runs like new. Always stored properly and wiped down after use. The media page shows the boat as a 84 model but is a 83 model. It was the 1st 20 I/O made as a prototype.

A prop with a little less pitch might help.
