    Dwight,

If the transom has any type of bow in it, it's shot. Leaving the engine mounting
holes open and not glassing them closed is what did it. That wooden transom will
soak up water like a sponge. It's quite a job to replace the transom. I had John @
Dyna-Ski do my 18 twin project and with new transom..floors..carpeting ..& new
rub rails it cost me a little over $4,500.00.

macbano's is a 73 if that who you had in mind. I don't think we have many 71's or 72's here.

I had always thought that the raised floor, the end grain core, and the HIN on the outside of the transom occurred at the same time. That would be late 73 or 73.

That may not be true. There may even be some raised floors and the double longitudinal core.

I'm not paying to have that done. I'll probably tackle it myself. After a few more days of investigation, I will know for sure.

I had a 72 that didn't have the flat floor. Got the seats from that boat in my 79 I/O.

For some reason I thought that the raised floors came a bit earlier than 1973, but I'm not sure. My 1973 had the raised floor and was also a Tommy Bartlett boat. I spoke with Tom Diehl on a few occasions and the information that they would have about boats from the 1970s would have to be put together by digging - they never tracked that kind of information in a way that would make it simple to figure out. The history that I got with my boat is that it was a single rig and was used during the 1973 season to showcase a new, big Mercury 6 cyl engine but I have never really been able to verify that.

I know there are threads on here that cover the transition to a raised floor and the use of the HINs on the boats, as well as HP ratings, and related history. It would just be a matter of searching.

My 1973 Hydrodyne never saw the water during the 2013 summer season but I put it on the water this spring and it fired up immediately and ran great - we did a lot of waterskiing over Memorial Day weekend.

The Aquanuts now own my 2007 Dyna-Ski twin rig. I sold the boat to them this spring, after they approached me about buying it. It will probably be better utilized back in the show ski environment, but I did have a lot of fun with it last summer!

My 72 had only 3 seats and a foot brace glassed to the floor for the observer. I think they started putting a fin on the same year that the single core and flat floor was done. There are several pre 72 boats around here and none have a fin or the recess for the fin but all the 73 and up boats have the fin.

This boat has a solid center fin, so probably at least a 73' then.

There's a '69 running around Fox Lake (WI) that has a fin on it.

I think there are more exceptions than rules.

After tapping the transom, I don't think there is a sold piece in it. Now to decide when I want to start the fun.

There was some type of device mounted on the side of the hull, under the water line. Not sure what it would of been, but two small screw holes are still there.
