    I have to say that after sitting idle for over 3 years in my shop under a fitted cover up here in the PNW my boat is filthy. Call me crazy as I have not taken it out for so long even living half a mile from the largest river on the west coast (Columbia) but work dictated other things (along with an addition to the family)

    So now it is uncovered and I am cleaning it up, changing water pumps, lower unit oil the Dyne needs a new battery and the radio does not work anymore. But the trim pumps are fine, it turns over and the electrical system is just as it was when I parked it.

    I will post some pictures as it progresses.

    some might have figured I fell off the earth. Work would like me to do that, but I am determined to get the boat out this year. I have already spent a couple hundred at West Marine so the goal is to have it out next month when family arrives to visit. I am going to have to change my picture since I am not in California anymore.

    I am not doing much better. The Dyne goes out about ten times a year when Pam and family visit. Then few joy rides and that is about it.
    I think some of the new members may not be familiar with you, so I wonder if you would be willing to tell us about the history of your boat and how it is equipped and modified.

    For those of you who have been around, sorry I have not been. I never thought when I took the job in Portland, Or that it would be this demanding. On top of that the rain creates enormous amounts of yard work (7 months and 46 inches of rain each year) remember that if you plan on moving to the Northwest and buying any kind of property. I also had an addition to the family last year in fact he turns 1 next month so that has been a bit of a demand.

    On to the boat;

    I created this site in 2003/4 when I was doing some research for my boat. There was nothing out there! My boat is a 1973 with twin 115 Inline Mercs, it has been in the family since new. I am the one with the 3 Skags/Fins on the bottom, hydraulic steering and saddle tanks (2 engines burn some fuel) I have a couple of videos up should you be interested. I am running 19 pitch aluminum props but will probably step down to 17's this year. I replaced the rubber with the stuff from Wefco, and changed out the gauges. I added a radio also. Other then that it is painted in original colors and has the original engines (one has 1400 hours and is the best running of the 2 and never been touched, the other has 250 hours (2nd rebuild over its life)

    It spent most of its life in Southern California until 2011 when we moved to Vancouver, Washington where it has resided since in my shop under a cover.

    well it was originally a core plus floor with stringers. In 1992 my dad the owner at the time (I bought it from him in 2003) ripped out the original rotted floor and installed a floor that only goes about half way back (Foot well is open the seats are mounted to the stringer mounted floor and the rest is just the core no stringers) that is the amazing part of the hydrodyne design; its balsa core, it does not need extra reenforcement. Basically rear of the seats just has carpet glued directly to the hull, and you can see from the videos (Both from the 70s/80s and the one that I took in 2008 or so) it does not need stringers unless you demand a flat floor.

    Thanks Daniel, as I recall the floor mods also give access to the extra fin mounts. I recall you talking favorably about slalom tracking.

    True, the forward fin is a bit tough but I have a cut out in the back of the stringer floor for drainage that allows access, the rear fin is under the carpet in the open bolted through the hull and sealed. The extra tracking keeps the boat from rolling up, it is basicly a go-cart on the water and if you turn tight enough at speed you can throw people out of the boat if they are not hanging on (It tracks flat in the corners). With the pylon mounted slightly forward of most and the fins there is no tracking problem even with a 210lbs single ski slalom skier pulling hard.

    while we are talking about Daniel's boat, I wanted to point out the very cool pylon. I like it because no loads go into the floor.
