I/O pylons are going to be a tough find. In Harmony Dean had to part his 69 18' a while back and saw his outboard pylon go through eBay. I'll keep an eye out but the Hydrodyne T skier parts don't seem to surface too often.
Try calling (253) 235-3403. He is selling off parts for a 1978 18 foot I.O. and the pylon is still there. Hope this helps you.... Bob
Dynebob 1: Really, really cool if this pans out for oldskier. I keep an eye ( as I assume others do as well but don't see a lot of "Hydrodyne" specific parts being sold. I purchased a pot metal rear outlet for the stearn light of the HD 20 I/O (to replace a really pitted piece) that was a perfect match but was not advertised for hydrodyne (many pieces were out-sourced I'd assume). Tom Miller told me that the pylons and other aluminum brachets and parts were speciality outsourced and built, and no longer available unfortunately. Regarding to a potential 18' I/O pylon that may be available, that is what this community is about, source the parts, restore them as needed or bring them back, and keep them out there and active. Kevin-
If the pylon is available. Make sure you get the brackets (dowel brackets) and the "L" brackets to mount the base. I have a set of the base mounts (if not available) and can provide for the price of shipping.
Has anybody checked with KW show ski equipment to see if they could reproduce the old style pylons? They do similar work with some of their booms, so there is a chance it could work.
Thanks all. In negotiation with the gentleman that Dynebob referred to above...he is attempting to determine an asking price. Then we will need to determine a shipping price....from Washington state to extreme northeast Tennessee, as far away from Washington state as you can get and still be in Tennessee. He asked me how much it is worth...I said if you have a restored Dyne and no pylon, that it is priceless......I think that was the wrong answer.
I believe he was asking $350.00 for what was left on the entire boat . (The pylon didn't look bad in the picture.) Good luck securing it !!!! Bob
The guy has told me twice that he would get back to me. Dont think he really wants to sell the pylon. If you hear of any others let me know.
Keep trying him if you really want one. These things don't come up for sale often. This was the first one I had seen due to the fact he was junking out the boat. With a lot of these old boats going into the landfills, these original parts are getting very hard to find . Bob
