Hi to all! New to the site after buying a 64 -65 to restore to its glory.

Mine has the V8 Interceptor and the Eaton outdrive. The Eaton needs all new gaskets and some prop parts.

I have access to a Volvo Outdrive that seems to be in better condition. I believe that is a 69. Which one of the two is better and are parts easier to find for either. Would the Volvo fit on my 64-65?

Possibly, but you need to be much more specific in your description of the engine and drives. I would use pictures and model numbers. Then I would google this subject and you may find the answer. I do know that the volvo need to be a V-8 model for the correct ratio.

If I were doing that job, I would look for a junk boat with a complete mercruiser and modify the transom for it. That would give you everything you need and parts are plentiful.

If you do elect to swap that out drive I would be interested it the Eaton depending on the model. If you do, please share the Eaton serial number. Please don't just junk it.
