How many people here have changed out motors? I was curious as to how many people have changed out engines to new models and why? I still run the original Towers Of Power and looking to see how many still have them on thier Dynes. Daniel
Re: Haow Many Have Changed Motors Just curious, are they the inline 6 99.81 cu/in motor Mercury made for many years, from 90 to 155 HP? Do you have a counterrotating lower unit on one? My first boat was a 16' Tahiti, with a 135 hp inline six, Mercury. It was fast, but also very thirsty. I liked the fact that the motor, with power trim weighed about 310 LBS.
Same Inline that they always made. They are 115s and both rotate the same way. They did not have a counter rotating option in those days. I counter the torque with Hydralic steering and a bit of power trim. Daniel
I have an 86 dyne that i bought from a ski club, who planned to use it for a second dyne in their shows, but they decided not to for one reason or another so i bought it and rigged it with twin 1982 115 mercs! It ran good for the first hour i ran them that is until the stator on one motor went bad(is repaired now) (ACCORDING TO THE TITLE THE LAST TWO OWNERS WERE THE LAKE SINISSIPPI SKI CLUB, AND BEFORE THAT MAD CITY SKI TEAM)
one of them has 900hrs on it and the other which has been rebuilt has around 65hrs. Believe it or not the one with higher hours is the best running of the two (Fires up the easiest, idles the best) Daniel
