    Aahhh, the ropes. I am thinking that a stranded steel leader on a sprung capstan would survive the heat from the after burners. Just enough to keep the weight down and the tow line as close to natural as possible. The exhaust can be directed upwards to give the skier a fighting chance to breathe some clean air. To protect the environment, the fuel source could be ethanol made from plants or soybean oil.

    Jet A has way more kilocalories for propulsion than ethanol. How do we make it better? More power!
