If you are rebuilding a Hydrodyne I would recommend the following book:

    Runabout Renovation
    Jim Anderson
    International Marine/Ragged Mountain Press
    Copyright 1992

This book focuses on boats of the 70's and takes you step by step through the process of evaluating, selecting, purchasing and renovating a typical 1970's era fiberglass runabout. It was my primary source of information during my rebuild. It is an easy read, well organized, and keeps things simple. For detailed information on fiberglassing, you'll need some additional source information but this book covers the basics of fiberglassing as well. This book covers everything from planning the project to removing the old floor, replacing the floor, removing the deck, and rebuilding the transom.

I have scanned a picture of the front cover of the book.

I hope that this ends up being helpful.

I had hoped to have a materials supplier list done and posted by now for those of you who are undertaking projects over the winter. I know who some of you are because I've heard directly from some of you. Unfortunately, I have not put one together yet. I will - I promise.

In the meantime, I thought I'd remind those of you planning winter restorations to consider purchasing this book by Jim Anderson. No - I don't make money on the book - I don't even know the author. But it is a good book and I credit it for providing the majority of the information that I needed to do my restoration.

Also - some of you have asked me where the restoration section is. It used to be on the front page of the website. It is still on the website but you have to go under "About Dynes" to get to it now. Check it out if you are going to be doing a restoration project this winter.

Please post pictures and share successes, frustrations of your projects on the website. We can't help if you don't share and ask. I welcome direct PMs or E-Mails but if you have a question that you think others might have, ask on the posts under the restoration section so that everyone else can learn or offer their own suggestions. I've learned alot on this website by doing this very thing. We've got a lot of very knowledgeable people on here who can help.

    Good luck!
