Just wanted to say thanks for the forum. I had a 76 dyne with a 200 evinrude, and after many years of not boating, trying to get back into skiing. I would like to find more info about the changes over the years for Hydrodyne and Calabria boats. I am looking for a used dyne (found a 93 that seems ok) but I don't know any of the differences. Thanks again for the forum. Gerry Cheek
Are you looking for an inboard or an outboard? What type of skiing do you plan? There is an 18 and a 20 outboard for sale here. jim
This time I would prefer an inboard 20ft, but I also would like to know about the Calabria connection. It seem the Hydrodyne web site was in 2002, are there any in production? Also I would be a recreational skier, slalom and wakeboard. Gerry
I have a 1996 Grand Sport Open Bow. Just love it, rides well and is built to last....... I used to Ski with a couple Show Teams in Wisconsin and knew the workmanship on the Dynes. Well, Hydrodyne as we knew it is no more. A company in WI does make the outboard hulls under the name Dyna-Ski currently.... 1996 was the last year of Hydrodyne made by Ab Crosby in Indiana I believe. I think Calabria bought the molds for the inboards but no longer makes the "Hydrodyne". If you need any feedback on the inboards, I'm open to Q's..... The inboard would be perfect for the type of skiing you are looking to do. Also, anyone know any more or can clarify some of the info above? Please enlighten us all... This forum is definitely on my favorites list now.......
Just to note, the Dyna-ski owner, PJP is on this board pretty regularly. I'm sure he'll answer any and every Dyna-Ski question you could possibly have.
If you need answers to questions regarding Hydrodyne, Dyna-Ski 1995 to 2005, or The Dyne, Contact me. My Father Ab Crosby Founded Hydrodyne Boats, My brother Ab Jr, Built Hydrodynes and my husband Tom Miller Built the original Dyna-Ski and now builds The Dyne 18' & 20'.
Hey Gerry......don't know nothing about Dyne perse, just a visitor here knowing 2Mercs and his CA buddies. Just wanted to say your name brought back some memories. Use to know a guy named Jerry Cheek, his parents were friends with my parents.......wonder where he is now. Bev....I think it is so cool you are here on this board. What a family history and the information you, your husband and you brother Ab Jr. bring to this site! On the classicglasspars board they have made contact with the son of Bill Tritt of Glasspars, Matthew, he lives just 45 minutes north of me here on the Central Coast in CA. He attended my boat gathering of "Classic Glass" in 2005 along with Eddie who worked in the Glasspar factory from 1952-62 in Santa Ana. Talk about information! Alas, I was out on the water when Matthew arrived and back after he left, but I did get to meet Eddie and he remembered that Glasspar did provide boats for Sears at one time during those years. I am the Elgin/Sears Lady and have worked over the years to find the history of the manufacturers that contracted with Sears to provide boat for them.
