Hello everyone I’m Steve I live on the Portage Lakes near Akron Ohio, I have a 1971 18 ft Hydrodyne with a 1972 140 hp Mercury OB for sale for $900.00 The boat also has the matching trailer and all the ski gear and cover. I am told that I am approximately the third or fourth owner and that the boat is a retired ski boat from Sea World (This is from a reliable source). The boat is in good condition but the motor requires work in the distributor. Here are some more pics, the boat is in good shape. Contact me at: 330 324 0730 djsteve@lakeviewproduction.com
Re: A really good find ! Welcome, I would like to be the first to say that you have found a great boat that has a history. Member Jim and MarkBano as well as myself have 18's Mark just completed a complete inside and out resto. My Boat has had a mini overhaul and Jims is original except for the fact it was a I/O and now it is an outbourd (No Small Feat mind you). Riverrat and DyneBob have new Dyne 18's. I figure by the morning you will have numerous replys. Daniel
Re: A really good find ! Welcome aboard, Steve. If you can attach more detailed pictures, I can probably offer some restoration thoughts. Check the straightness of the transom. Get some pictures of that and the floor. Check the tracking skeg on the bottom to see if it is attached tightly. Good luck!
Re: A really good find ! (More Pics posted now). Hi Steve, Markbano will be a good source for restoration information. I think he took every nut bolt and screw out of his to do the resto. If you need help with the inline 6 there are some good shops around for that. I have posted them on other threads so a search should find them. If not, I can look that info up again. I know you will enjoy the boat. I have said before that the 18 will bring out the hotrod spirit from even the most conservative person. Read some of Mark's posts when he first drove the boat. Your seats do not look original to me. However the 18 came with a variety of seats. The set up that came in the I/O is my favorite. There are several threads that discuss seats. I would not get hung up on having to buy off the shelf seating. Some of the inboards have very nice observer seats that could be duplicated fairly simply. You have limited width so there is not room for a big bucket and a wide observers seat. It depends on what you think is important. jim
