Wondering if anyone knows what manufacture this throttle is? Or where I can get parts for it? The throttle cable broke. It came off a 1982 Hydrodyne that BobDyne found for us in Michigan. Thanks Steve Banovetz 608 320 2338
That looks like an old morse throttle that was actually intended for inboards, but worked fairly well on I/O's . Crosby used a lot of them. Throttle cables are pretty standard and there are adapters if needed. Do yourself a favor and replace it with a Yamaha modern control with built in trim switch. jim
I thought Teleflex bough Morse. I replaced the one in my 83 I/O with a Teleflex that if very similar but it has the pull up safety button. I thought for 20 years that I had a problem with the shifter or the linkage. Had several mechanics try to adjust the linkage with no real improvement. Had a impellor replaced last winter and the head mechanic happen to walk by and noticed the cable going in the foot was bad out of adjustment. Not it shifts like it should after 20 years. Probably didn't even need the new Teleflex.
Hey Steve/Van: Van, you are correct regarding the Morse buyout by Teleflex. Steve, I believe that is a Morse M-1 that you have. They show up on eBay every know and again but are a little pricey for an old throttle. I could not find one in reasonable shape so I opted for a Teleflex. If the cables are the problem, they are still widely available as Erik (Must-ski) has indicated, and come with adapter cable end kits for your application in the box (usually). I replaced my throttle last year with a Teleflex and am very pleased. I had to do a little research and made the wrong Teleflex purchase initially (brough a MV-3 which just does not have the same build and quality as the one in the boat), but got the correct throttle in the end for the 1985 HD 20 i/o. I did not like the setup that the boat came with (very awkward mercruiser throttle) so I made the change to a Teleflex CH2200P as shown. The shift delete to rev the throttle is a push button at the pivot point. This throttle also has a shift lockout that I am familiar with and has the same action as the new inboard boats. I see you are from Madison, WI by the 608 area code. I grew up there but do not recognize the City any more with all the redevelopment. I'm 58 mi east of you in Brookfield, WI. Good luck and say hi to Mark. He must be busy as his posts really have diminished Take care Kevin Bugel
