    Question...

I have a bilge pump for the bilge well and a hose kit with a fitting to run the hose to the outside of the boat. I was wondering where people put the outlet fitting for bilge pumps on Hydrodyne 18s. When I bought my boat the bilge pump simply emptied into the splash well. I could set it up that way or run it out the side of the boat. I'm wondering what others have done in this regard.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

I mounted my outlet just below the rub rail, about 4" in front of the transom (from the inside). I wanted to go closer to the transom, but the side curves in towards the transom, so I had to scoot it forward a bit to find a semi-flat surface to mount to. It is on the drivers side so it is easy to see if anything is pumping out (verifiy operation, see when it's done pumping and shut if off, or just squirt a skier when idling by).

That sounds about right. You don't want to be too close to the transom anyway because the fiberglass roving for the transom wraps around onto the hull in that area and that is a vital transom strength area. I'll probably mount my outlet in the same approximate location. Thanks for the feeback.

Good point. Now I'm wishing I had maybe gone a bit further forward. Oh well, it should be ok. It's just a small hole.

Four inches is fine. I'll probably put mine somewhere in the same area unless my "Hydrodyne" emblem is too high to permit it - then I'd have to put it further forward.

Mounting it so it empties into the splashwell doesn't appeal to me because, as you point out, it is nice to be able to look back and see when it is finished discharging water.

It is also nice to not have any possible oil, dirt, grime, etc that is in the bilge have to filter through the splashwell to get all the way out of the boat. Thus, helping keep the splashwell a little cleaner.
