    Hi all:

Had to winterize and put the boat in storage a week ago and always a feel a bit sad when it goes away. It seems like the summer started and ended in the same month this year. We truely live by 4 seasons here in the Midwest (and sometimes get cheated out of one of them).

It was a great summer here in Wisconsin and we saw a lot of time in the water; one of the best summers in the past 5 or 10 years for consecutive sun and high temps as I recall. We were in a full wetsuits in mid-April but they were not necessary by early-May.

Seems like an abrupt change to fall/winter. I saw snow (fluries) in the northern reaches of the WI this weekend and will welcome the winter sports season....I guess.

Got to wonder what everyone does in the off-season here in the higher latitudes (that is, those that have true winter, sorry Daniel and folk form the lower latitudes of CA and FL, we know that you folks only have 1 season, endless summer).

Yes winter is upon the main population of this site.

I don't do that much boating in the winter I turn to the desert and do some riding. I do feel for you guys up there, I have family in northern Iowa and in St. Paul so I hear about the nasty cold weather.

    Daniel

Hopefully we can all get through the winter with memories of the summer.

The social activities start to crank up about now. There will be car shows, boat shows, street dances, wine tasting, and endless other activities. There are a lot of retired people down here.

If there is a lot of snow on the ice, we take out the kneeboard and pull with a snowmobile. If the snow is deep enough it cuts just like on water. Most of the time we are on the snow skis, build a jump and it is a lot of fun. Just use old equipment the ice is very tough on the bottoms, or just get a season's pass at the local ski hill.

Water, Frozen or liquid form....its all good.

For me, April through October are spent in the slalom coarse chasing balls three to four times a week and December through March are spent coaching alpine ski racing and teaching at the local ski hills, three to four times a week; been doing this routine going on 20 years. Its a pretty good balance for the two seasons but hate to give one up for the other.

I drive boat in the summer for our local water ski show team. I winterize boats in the fall. Then in about 3 weeks I will start making snow at the local ski hill.
