Does anyone have any pics of the transom and motor well area of a factory built twin rig? This is going to be a longer term project and I want to do it right.

If you're talking about an 18 footer, there are no factory built twin rigs. All of the twin rigs were built on the same transom and splash well that was built for a single engine. Even the early 20 footers had to be modified to carry the wider big blocks. D.&S. Marine in Rosco Il. did many of them in the day.

If you plan on putting anything other than some old straight 6 towers of power or the older V-6 Black Max's on your 18 you are going to have to chop the hell out of the back of your boat. I've got twin black Max's on an 18 and you still have to carve out a pocket on the right rear of the splash well to clear the bracket on the Sea-Star hydrauilic steering.

The show I used to ski with had a 16' with twin V4 Johnsons and I don't remember any mods to the hull. This was in the early 70's. Yes I have an 18' and I intend to put modern motors on it. I have converted a jet hull to outboard which involved some cutting and building a splash well but I did not have to replace the transom. That was not a difficult project. I don't know if the transom needs to be replaced on the Dyne - if it reasonably servicable I can put steel knee braces to the stringers for added strength which I have also done - not hard either.
