Jim, or Bob, or Greg, or Daniel,

Could one of yous do me a favour and measure the height of your seats off the floor (the base, seat cushion and seat backs).

Also, could you please comment on whether you find that your seats are too low, too high or just rrrrrright.

    Thanks,

    Kevin

Here are the numbers for my seats with the aluminum frames:

The height of the base of the cushion is 5.25 at the rear and 6 at the front of the cushion. The top of the cushion is 8 at the rear and 9.25 at the front. The top of the back cushion is 22 off the floor.

The observer seat is close to that.

I have short legs and a long torso. These dimensions work for me and lower might be better. Higher would be too high.

Due to the shape of the hull, I have to sort of tuck my right leg under my left in the drivers seat. The other seats have plenty of room.

I like the set up because I can get three people on the front row for balance and still have good access to the forward storage area.

    Bob,

That is a fuel selector valve that is hooked into the speedometer pickup system. I have two speedometers and three pickups. One on the motor and two pitots. The one of the motor is the master and the valve selects which of the pitots is hooked to the other speedometer.

If one pitot gets clogged, I can switch to the other and know that I have one clogged.

I rigged this up when we were doing tournaments in rivers. I don't get clogs here in our lake, but I occasionally do use it if the speedometers are not reading the same.

I think a better system for this lake would be to hook both speedometers to the motor pickup. I have only had it clog once in 10 years when I hit a submerged branch in the river at the Cincinnati nationals. I could then remove the pitots which get turned sometimes when I beach it.

My daughter's boat has the two pitots t'd together for one speedometer and and the motor pickup hooked to the master speedometer.

    Good eye.

It is nice to have a seat that is low enough that you can rest your elbow on the gunwale to steady your throttle hand. It helps prevent your hand from getting numb during long practice sessions and makes throttle control more precise in my opinion. Also, you don't have to duck as much in an around the boat.
