OK, Let's hear from the club Dyne drivers. There are a bunch of ways to do it, what is your technique? Brown's Lake Dyne 18: jim
What speed do you have to go into the manuver at? I would think fairly fast as to get the skier to maximum speed through his/her turn. Daniel
With a typical male skier about 180lbs I can start out as low as 25mph. When I drop my arm signaling the skier to cut I wait about 2-3 seconds before accellerating and turning. If you turn the boat to soon the skier will miss the whip. The turn for the whip is a fairly sharp 90 degree with a mild increase in power. As you add skiers you will add initial speed and increase power in the whip. We make our skiers do this on a plank ski with a deep aluminum fin. I heard there is a team out there that does 7 around a twin. I would like to know how they did that. I did 5 around a 89 dyne twin and sunk it. When the skiers were next to the boat they pulled it up on its side, and then it went down.
I saw the seven around at the 2006 nationals. It was Brint Burrill who is the tow #1 driver for Backwater. It may have been an lllusion, but it looked like he made the initial left turn then waited with very little or no power on until most of the skiers cleared the bow and then started the hard right turn. It was a beauty. jim
Jeremy You dunked a rail. How many beers did that cost you. Well you can still drive my boat any time Rob
