I got this photo from a for sale add on the net. This is a typical I/O instrument layout. The seats are original except they have been recovered and that is not original. Mine are rolled and pleated and I have a rear facing seat on the drivers side too. The throttle control is a Morse inboard type for the precise throttle part of it. jim
Hey Jim: The rolled and pleated job that came with the original seats seems to fade with time (very intericate and hard to reconstruct apparently). I had seat skins made for my 75 last winter and they came togather ok but not like the originals. There also was a lot of detail put into the foam structure and seat pannels, tough to mimic to fit correctly. (I have the original panels of the drivers seat and bench if anyone is ever interested; getting the foam structure to work is another story). A pic of my 75 i/o dash cluster is attached with the original seat upolstery. It came with one speedo and a cigarette lighter in the dash but I had no use for the later. Came across a new airguide tournament speedo four or five years ago that matched the original. Kevin-
Kevin, I know how much work it is because I bought an upholstery sewing machine and redid mine exactly like the originals. I have always thought the original seats were beautiful. I will get a better picture later. You are right, the inner foam and vinyl construction is tedious and it would be difficult to hire anyone to duplicate it because it is so labor intensive. $$$ They have been in the boat for nine years and are holding up well. jim
I tried using the old covers for patterns. I took them apart. It did not work because they were stretched out of shape. It was a starting point though. It was a lot of fun, and I would do it again but only for my boat. It is quite time consuming, at least for me. jim
