Maybe Bob can take a few shots of it while it is on the trailer for you all to see. I never took one of my own.
Here is a picture of the fins on 2mercs boat. I like this also. I would think a pylon mounted further forward would require the fins to be mounted further forward also. This one would require a trailer mod which would be worth it in my opinion. jim
never heard of this, can you help me out here? I am pretty much a recreational slalom skier. Once in a while I get on the course and do some runs. typically run 36mph, 22 foot rope, 67" HO Vengence and will play with my old 65" HO Mach I once in a while to do some tail pushes for some masive walls and spray (nothing like a glass lake and you put a 20 foot wall of water up in the air). Barefooting (34 yrs old, 170 lbs. and my buddies around about the same). Back when I was in high school we used to ski/barefoot behind a 1982 17.5' MFG Celebrity runabout with a 170 hp I/O. We used to barefoot behind my SKI RAY. That was a sweet boat and I miss it alot. 19 foot, no tracking fins, 175 hp, Hi-Five stainless steel blade. That boat had minimal rise. Tons of storage for a day on the lake. If Sea Ray decided to make this boat again, I would safely say we would probably buy this boat again. Since they don't the only thing that comes close in terms of a new boat is the dyna-ski so that is why I am looking at them. So do you all think a set up like this would be a good family/ski boat? 20 open bow Dyna-Ski, 175 hp motor (or go with a 200 hp).
The 175 will give you heaps, even two up for the kind of speeds a 170 pound bloke needs. I'd go with a 175 E-TEC for sure. The Stejcraft Pro Skier is made in Australia so it is no help to you. Since your dollar has tanked, importing one isn't practical. Nice though. http://www.stejcraft.com.au/cms/index.p ... &staffid=8 My other boat viewtopic.php?f=18&t=818 I think it boils down to a test drive to see what you think of the layout, space, handling etc. Top speed and skiability will be more than fine. Some nice people on here, should be able to find a modern example to take for a spin
h2oski, Where are you located? I believe dyna-ski usually has a couple boats around that can be test-driven. If not, there are a few people here that have something pretty similar to what you are looking for, and would probably be willing to help out with a test drive/ski.
South side of Lake Sakakawea, North Dakota. I saw there is a guy with a 17.5' open bow Dyna-ski from Lake Metigoshe on here. That isn't far from me (in fact, my parents are up there at a cabin right now). Maybe I can convince for a ride. I spoke with the guy over in Wisconsin who is building these and he might have a buyer in Devils Lake, ND that was looking for the same thing I am, so I can inquire about that as well. It is nice to here how they are built and everything, but it is better to get the word right from the guys and gals that are driving every day and owning them.
Hi h2oski, You're more than welcome to take the Dyna-Ski for a spin. I won't try and compare ski boats other than to tell you that the Dyna-Ski's are solid and very reasonably priced. Stop by the "ski hill" at the lake on Saturday mornings during practise and you will find it there or it can be brought over. Kevin
