At about 20 MPH and up the hull is humming and vibrating. When I trim the hull up it goes away, but I have to trim it way up. It seems like it may be coming from up near the front, it is almost like a ringing kind of vibrating. I don't think it is the motor or prop due to it going away when I trim the boat up. I thought it may be the fin, but that would still be in the water and would keep humming all the time. It actually gets really loud. The boat does not shake or anything it just humms and rings. As many of you know I took out all of the balsa floor and replaced it with composite and added a sub floor with joists.

Just speculation is it possible that the fibreglass may have a ripple in the fibreglass and the water is flowing by it, it may be vibrating? Does anyone have any advice as to how to make it go away?

Is the core bonded to the hull?

I put the core in with epoxy and bonded it to the hull. I then overlayed it with epoxy and fibreglass. I then put stringers on. I then put a subfloor over that. It is way more solid than it was before. Do you think the core is vibrating in between the fibreglass layers? If so, is there anyfix to it? Thank you for your input.

I think that before assuming that, I would explore every other possibility. Since the hull is more rigid now, it will transmit vibration better. It could be coming from the engine mounts, cowl, accessory mounts etc.

Mine has a vibration when the trim is all the way down.

It does kind of having a ringing now. It almost sounds like the fin. I was thinking of putting some duct tape, you know it fixes everything, on the fin and see if anything changes.

I did remove the fin, drove oak pegs in the holes with wood putty, redrilled the holes and mounted the fin with marine epoxy.

I skied behind it last night. It seemed to handle very well. Nothing crazy or wierd happenned, other than the wierd humming.

I built a Glen-L TNT many years ago and the fin made a humming noise that would almost drive you crazy. The fin I made for it was out off 1/4" stainless and I had to put a slight bend in the trailing edge to finally get the humming to go away.
