We drove over to Daytona Beach today to walk on the beach and have lunch. We are going to try to do that at least twice a week all summer.

Is the Mahi Mahi still good at the Ocean Deck?

We walked by the Ocean Deck, but I have never eaten there. Maybe we will try it next time. I like the Top of Daytona for early dinner and Crabby Joes for lunch. I'll take my camera next time.

In my 4 years in daytona (for school), the closest I've been to being on the pier was walking up the steps, across the concrete, and back down again. For some reason, it never appealed to me.

I can't say I've ever tried the top of daytona. Is Crabby Joe's somewhat new? I haven't been in town since '99.

If you are looking for a good beer selection, try Bernkastle Festhaus. I believe they had over 40 different beers on tap when I was there.

If you're looking for something a little quieter, head down to Ponce Inlet. I liked the Inlet Harbor restaurant. Good gator tail!

Crabby Joes is at the end of the pier that is south of the Orange beach bridge. The view is great and the food is OK. You can't drop your credit card on the floor because there is a good chance that it will go through and wind up in the water. I don't know how long it has been there, but I think quite a while.

I have eaten at several of the places down by the lighthouse.

Since it's your birthday Jim, are you going to make, or have you made any other trips out to the beach?

We do get over to the beach fairly often. We found a little joint right on the beach at Flagler Beach which is just north of Ormond. It's just a glorified hamburger joint, but I love that. We can have lunch and then walk on the beach. There is one at New Smyrna that has really good burgers and a great beach shop across the street. The last hurricane got some of their foundation, but it has been repaired.

I found some more little beach joints on the way home from Flagler that I am looking forward to trying. I'll make a list of them for anyone that comes down for a visit.

My wife and I love the beach and boating.
