I get emailed two or three times a year regarding the value of the 70's vintage tournament skier hulls and though this would be a good focus for discussion. With the cost of new tow boats in the $50K range (or more), the value older boats in reasonably good condition should be stable to increasing. The first and fourth questions of the "subject line" may be the most difficult but here is my attempt for my 1975. • Original Cost? $4,895 (See the attached Sales Receipt) • Purchase Price? $3,400 in 1999; Plus 2,400 mi round trip travel and expenses to retreive the boat. • Upgrades? Replaced rear floor section, new marine carpet and upolstery, new bow stripe, new rub rail, referbished trailer. • Insurred Value? $7,000. • Estimated resale? Not currently for sale but should be interesting if it ever hits the market. Like anything else, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
