Last summer I purchased a 88 17.6XB powered by a 88 GT150. The motor runs fine, but as we all know is a huge gas hog. I have been looking at options to repower my boat. I recently came across a 2011 125 opti-max. I am looking for input on whether this is a good choice as far as power, economy, and top end. Any thoughts on a prop would also be apreciated

I would try the 150 for a season. It may do better than you think at water ski speeds with a 17 pitch prop.

    Fuel Economy will be great.
Low end power will be acceptable.
    Speed holding might be ok.
Top speed will be 40-42 depending on propping.
