I don't see why it wouldn't work. I don't have a problem driving ATB with my twin with the 1.7 helm though.

The issue will be if you can economically mix and match those items.

Still working on the part number, I could not quite lean far enough over the back of my boat lift this morning to see the part number on the hub of the prop.

16 pitch prop is part number 0389925 from BRP/Evinrude.

Bringing back an old post to get a bit more info, since the time is near.

Any body have an idea of length of cable (for shift/throttle) and hose (for steering) needed on an 18'? I'm guessing 16' for the hose and 14' for the shift/throttle cables.

Also, Must-ski motors mentioned the BRP I-Command speedo, and I was wondering if the rest of the I-command gages are worth the extra cash as well, or should I do some mix-n-match? It also looks like the tach is a multi gage, but doesn't display everything at the same time. So, if going with a full I-command setup, which gages are useful, and which are less useful? From what I can see, I would probably go with I-command speedo (with GPS antena), tach, and trim, along with an airguide speedo. Anything else that would be useful?

Must-Ski Motors: Have you had a chance to try out that new BRP flush mount throttle yet? Any recomendation for cables to go with the throttle? BRP, teleflex, other?

I don't know the measurements for an 18. Your steering hose guess is probably correct, I think I used 18 footers on 20 foot boats. The throttle/shift cables I would think would more likely be 15's, a little long is better than short and with a tight bend.

In a couple more weeks I will have alot more experience with the I-Command stuff. My motor is not in yet, but I have the boat and am looking over the I-command set up. It seems somewhat complicated at first glance, though I suspect it will be a piece of cake once I do it once or twice. Gps speedo plus one off the pickup on the 200 HO would be a good mix I think. I have the classic I-commands with analog and digital readouts, I'll let you know how I like them.

As for the control, I've obviously not used it yet. Here is my take. If you get the new Yamaha style BRP control, use BRP cables. If you want to use Morse or Teleflex cables, get the Yamaha or Suzuki control as those SAE type cables with go right on with no adaptor. For the brp control you would need an adaptor kit to use SAE cables. I have the brp control with brp cables. I am assuming it will be a nice setup since we have two of the Yamaha side mount controls on our team boats and they work well and hold speed well. Propping has more to do with this anyway in my opinion. The other option I've thought about on an 18 is just mounting a Livorsi 2 lever control on the top of the deck. That could be pretty slick.

Hopefully by the third week in April or so I'll be able to give better feedback, but I am guessing you will be rigged up by then.

    River Rat,

Has Tom Miller ever started on your boat ?

I had him do some fabrication work for me, and when I spoke with him several weeks ago he sounded like he was just talking about it.

As of Tuesday, the deck was done, and the hull was supposed to be started sometime this week.

I was reading the I-Command set up guide last night and found something interesting. Apparently you can hook the speedo up to a gps and a paddle wheel to allow you to choose speed over ground or speed over water. This might be an intriguing setup. You must have an I command tach in order to use the I Command speedo.

I was wondering if you had the option of switching between paddle and gps, or if you had to physically unplug the gps and plug in the paddle wheel.

Did you go with the I-Command digital or classic? If you got the digital, do you have the analog display or digital display? I like the idea of having an analog display, but could probably get used to digital if I had to. It looks like the I-command digital with the digital display has the most features. Is your info that came with the set better than what they have on the website? If so, I would like to see a copy of that to help decide which direction I want to go.

I have the classics as I wanted the analog pointers, just too used to that I guess, although you can configure the digital ones to have an analog pointer as well for speed/tach.
Everything I have is paper that came with the gauges, I don't know if it is the same as the stuff online, but I do have a wiring diagram that I don't think is online.

Edit: according to the instructions you select speed over water or speed over ground from the menu and both are available as long as you have both the paddle wheel and gps puck hooked up.

Sorry for the late reply, I have been out of town. My throttle and shift are 13ft. They go in the starboard side of the motor and if I tilt up with the motor turned to the right it makes a pretty sharp bend. They have lasted OK, but I think I will try 14ft next time I replace them.

If you use a Merc with the cables going in the port side they will need to be longer.
