Hello first off this is a great site and enjoy looking at all the nice boats.
I have a runabout 1500 1969 with a 45hp chrysler. Its been taken well care of but turns hard I removed the steering cable and it needs a new one went down to the local boat shop and was told I cant get a replacement or anything to even work on the boat. He basically told me to get a new boat.
So is there any way I can get a setup to work I have a few ideas but waht lenght should I get any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks but I have a rack setup on my boat no cables with pulleys. I guess I will have to figure out how to rig it with the newer systems that are out.

If you are looking to keep it original, you should be able to find something still. It will take some digging, but should be possible. Check with older marine supply stores, ebay, etc...

If you want a new system, most marine stores will sell you a new system. The hard part will be finding one that will mate to your motor. You may have to fabricate an adapter to make it work. I would assume there is something out there still that will work though. There are a lot of people still using and restoring older rigs. Good luck, and let the interweb guide you.
