Throttle and shift controls

    There has been a lot of discussion about high dollar engine controls. The Mercury DTS (digital throttle and shift) is no doubt a very good system and I have nothing against it or any of the high end systems.

    However, if you are on a budget it is probably possible to modify most any of the systems to work well. There are also some fairly economical systems out there from Yamaha that will work with a little tweaking. The shift throw can be changed on most any of them to accommodate any outboard even if it means modifying the shift arm on the controller. There has been discussion about this in the past posted by me and Ghind and others. Just do a search and you will find plenty of information.
