    Mark,

Some 3 liter gearcases have additional intake holes in the nose of the gearcase bullet. If yours has those and they are not covered, you are sucking air. That is why I asked of all the intake holes were covered.

It worked. Ran it about 2 minutes, ran up to 1500 rpm, and water started coming out. Slowed it back down, and the water stopped. Ran it up to 1500 for several minutes and it came out again, then went back to idle and it stayed coming out. Then ran it for 8 more minutes to get the gas treatment all the way to the engine, per the manual.

I bought a kit to change out the lower unit lube, so I'll do that next.

I was able to do the water flush in the hangar with tubs under the motor but still made a bit of a mess. All cleaned up now.

I appreciate your help. I feel better having this done.

I assume it would be best to store it with the motor on the transom saver, after which I'll take out the battery.

    Best,

    Markbano

Store the motor all the way down.

I sent you a PM to call me. You don't need to do that now.
