Looking to restore your 'Dyne? Task seem daunting? I'm going to walk you through it, with 2Mercs' help, right here on this website. Transom replacement seem impossible? An 8 year old can do it! (with his 6 year old brother's help). If you can get out a transom beam in one piece, you've got a template for your new transom beams. If not, you can use construction roll paper to make a mold of the inside of the hull. I will show you how. Stay tuned!
Mark, And Jim, Thanks for the wealth on knowlege you guys are sharing, and to many others on this site. Great help, keep doing it!
Daniel: Thanks for then kind words! Jim: I haven't called him lately. The local marine dealer, which is his primary client, called him about 3 weeks ago and suggested he get my work done. My paint guy has been dealing with his mother, who is dying, and it has slowed him down so I've tried to be patient. I also just bought an airplane and have been dealing with all of that (prepurchase insp, etc) and have been trying to clean out the hangar to make space so actually I don't want the boat back quite yet until I've got everything organized in there. I've got literally 5 tables set up with rigging, wiring, interior, steering, etc. ready to be installed over the winter. I'm really looking forward to it. And, of course, I'm going to photograph everything!
Ditto on DanielC's comments. Your restoration experience will be an invaluable reference source for the rest of us. Also, many thanks for your past kind words regarding my own 'dyne. I hope to keep it for many years to come and it's nice to know that if I ever have to do any restoration, I can rely on you & Hydrodyners to help out!
Thanks for the support. This has actually been a lot of fun. If you look at the pictures of my trailer on this website, you'll probably quickly see that I was also trying to copy your trailer. So it wasn't just your boat that I thought was impressive!
