I don't think going from a 17 to a 19 will drastically change high speed control. It will definitely have a big effect on low speed control, but I would have to be switching props around depending on what practice day or show day it is. I would probably end up going with the lower pitch (16-17) for shows, and the higher for most other things since I will hopefully not be stuck at the chick practices Wink So basically I will need 2 swaps a week, one before and after shows, with a couple random ones here and there.

Don't like chics huh? Hmmm. Very Happy Smile Laughing

    That one was for Pam.

If I were you I would try an Aluminum 19 with all of the cup removed. You probably have one laying around that you could have modified. I would think it would be a good compromise and if it works, get one made in steel. I like trying stuff.

Actually, all the props we own currently are spoken for. 3 - 15 pitch (one counter rotate) on the triple and 2 - 17 pitch on the twin. All BRP standard black stainless.

I do, however, have a prop dealer in town here that I was talking to at the boat show that said they will change out props or rework them as necessary to make me happy (as long as I don't try to bring back a mangled prop, of course). But I forgot who it was now... I'll have to check at home tonight.

And about the chicks.... I have no problem with them. Just don't like to have to drive for them all the time, and don't want to spend more time driving for others than I need to, because I still want to ski as well. And then there's always the fun part about driving for the chicks.... Telling them if they can do any better, maybe they should try to drive once in a while (or spot, pull pin, perform maintenance on the boats/equipment..... etc... etc....) Wink

I'm spoiled. My daughter never complains, we do it for fun. She always says "thank you" and drives for her husband. When she lived at home she helped me do the maintenance and so did her friends.

She gets the boat ready to go. She can get a cover on or off quicker than I can. She backs the boat in and retrieves it too. When it stops being fun it should stop in my opinion.

My guess is that if the 17 works for you for slow stuff, you'll like it too much to bother switching props. If anything I would bet that you would end up with a 15 and a 17. With the 17 the boat will still be a rocket ship and it will have plenty of top speed. I don't know that there would be enough of an rpm spread with the 19 at jump speeds to really have a large effect on fuel economy. For strictly footing maybe there will be enough of a difference. The problem is the boats are so much easier and more fun to drive with the lower pitch props.

This is a great thread and I appreciate all the input. I am going to lay back and hope that some of the guys new to Dynes will get in here with their specific questions. I know we have more club drivers here and I hope you will join in too. Actually I would like to see all of our member participate in this one.

    Thanks again,

I am running 19 aluminum on my two 115s. I am in the river and sometimes hit sand bars so i was not going to invest in the Stainless.

I run about 58 or so topped out.
