Well I am shocked to say the least. I know we talked before about ditching the 150 and making the jump to a 200, or 225, but dammmmmmm a 250????? I think I know where you got that motor from if I recall previous conversation. Have you run it yet? Did you have to make any changes to the transom with the bolts, wiring harness, etc.? I am betting the plates that I mounted should be suffice. I did notice in the photos though that you need to adjust the rope guard up some. It is too low now. I am scared for you Bob. That is an awful lot of power for that size of boat. You know how it performed with that Optimax 150, I just can't imagine how crazy that thing is gonna be. I bet you switched the steering out to a hydraulic unit now, huh? If not I sure suggest it. That is an awful lot of torque steer with that motor for a cable set up. Greg
BTW, previous owner gets first dibs on first ride. I call it right now! Greg P.S. What is the story with the lower unit? It looks like it is for a race boat. Did you sell the Optimax 150?
Well done! More is better, after all.... I thought it was in storage for the winter. Looks like it came out of storage for an engine mounting party. I guess Greg has dibs on the first ride. I'm signing up now to be number 2. Better yet, we'll meet up first thing in the spring and all three of us can go, since we're all in the area. I can't wait!! MarkBano
I thought the new addition Bob was talking about was the swim platform.... The 250 looked like it belonged there to me. Especially since it was in the previous picture he posted. I bet the back end of that baby dyne is going to be just barely above water at a stand still now, but who wants to stand still? Have fun with it Bob!
Actually Jermey, the 250XS weights the same as the 225 Optimax and only 8 pounds more than the 200. Seeing those numbers made me believe the boat will still float. Bob
I just know the 18' dyne our team used to have sat pretty low in the rear with about a 2001 175 evinrude. I'm sure it will still be fine. The twins still seem to float ok, and I know that optipooch isn't heavier than twin 115's from the late 70's. Jim, How come that advertisement you showed only mentions how the Merc outperformed the Yamaha? I'm sure there are other brands they could have done comparisons with as well... hmmm.... interesting. They don't even show the numbers for the yamaha. Just a little note at the bottom.
