    Hi All,

Good to find a site with so much knowledge on theses classics. Please excuse my lack of proper boat terminology & phrases as I learn from you all & describe what I have.
It is a 17.5 ft I/O with a 302 & a Volvo 270 leg. The numbers at the rear below the Hydrodyne logo are 13K 73414. This doesn't correspond with the usual three letters as far as manufacturer etc. that I have read to be typical.
I will post pics when I get rid of all my kids crap from on top before I begin the restoration process. Actually, motor & upholstery have less than 100 hrs on them; body badly needs paint though.
What I can tell you is that the top of the bow is wood while the rest appears to be fiberglass. The seat opposite the driver (left side) is one long, rear facing lounger which appears to be original.
I was told it was a '76 when I bought it 9 years ago, but it appears to be more like some of the late sixties models I've seen here.
    Thoughts??

    Thanks all!! :hi:

I think you are correct about the year. What does the title say?

I would say that the numbers are some sort of lake registration. It looks like an early 18 I/O to me.

Thanks Jim. 1976 or 1968? Or somewhere in the middle?
    Motor is a 302 out of a '94 Mustang.

    Sorry, missed your first question.
There were no title documents. BTW, I notice yours is a converted '77 I/O - are ours similar in appearance? (pre-conversion)

I'm not an expert, but I have been building up a small library of older dyne photos. The shape of your cover looks a bit different than my 68, resembling the cover of a 69 or soon after. The seam of the 69 cover was even with the back of the cockpit and yours seems to be beyond that further. In the mid 70s, the cover was taller so as already suggested, it's somewhere inbetween. Love to know what year it is if you find out for sure somehow. It's a great looking boat whose year I have not yet seen! More pics please.

The serial number is on the inside in the rear somewhere on those boats. There is a post by Ab Crosby that talks about that some where. Perhaps a search of his posts would show it up. He has not posted much.

The serial number of the drive should tell the year. The very early I/O's had volvo drives and 289 power. I suspect that it is a very early 18 because of the wood fore deck. I would guess pre-1968.

Before you spend any money on it I would see if you can get a title. You will need the serial number for that.
